The Getty’s house in Marrakesh

Faithfull has recounted her apprehension about an invitation to spend five weeks with the Gettys in Morocco (“but for Mick this is an essential part of his life”) and how, after splitting from Jagger, she took up with Talitha Getty’s lover, Count Jean de Breteuil, a young French aristocrat (1949–1971).

Thalita Dina Pol was born in Java, then part of the Dutch East Indies (now Insonesia). Pol became the second wife of John Paul Getty Jr. on 10 December 1966. The Gettys became part of Swinging London fashionable scene, becoming friends with, among others, singers Mick Jaegger of the Stones and his girl-friend Marianne Faithfull.

Thalita Getty (18 October 1940 - 14 July 1971) was an actress of Dutch extraction, born in the former Dutch East Indies, who was regarded as a style icon of the late 1960s. She lived much of her adult life in Britain and, in her final years, was closely associated with the Moroccan city of Marrakesh. Her husband was the oil heir and subsequent philanthropist John Paul Getty Jr.
I wish that I could sufficiently express how much Pamela Courson and her legacy have come to mean to me.
She was a delicate beauty with a fiery spirit.. intelligent, childlike, and courageous, Pamela was not someone that people forgot easily. With her high, lilting voice, piercing blue-green eyes, and bright red hair, Pamela was captivating and she was charismatic. All pale skin and freckles, Pam was the epitome of a sunny California girl, a flower child from the very beginning, quick to laughter and eager to have a good time.. and while Pamela was certainly quite feminine and charming, she had a fierce wild streak about her that rivaled the rocking and rolling men of her generation. It isn’t hard to see what Jim Morrison found so mesmerizing about the Orange County cutie. Pamela would, in time, become the most important woman in (arguably) the most important rock musician of the 20th century’s lifetime.
Pamela, to me, was an incredible and inspiring woman.. she was, among other things, a fashion icon, a model, a muse, a designer, an entrepreneur, an editor, a stylist, a wife, a self-appointed surrogate mother, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and a lost little girl. Despite all of Pamela’s best efforts to save Jim Morrison’s life, she, like so many others in this beloved persona’s life, was not strong enough to conquer his demons. Pamela had her flaws, she had her brushes with the law, her bouts of rage and infidelity and madness, her occasional dependency (on both people and substances), but she was only human.. she was a living and breathing girl, young and living in a time of great change and confusion, and she did the best that she could with what she had.
Pamela’s life was as beautiful as it was short and tragic. She loved glamor and luxury, but she also loved life. Pamela was a known patron of the arts.. she loved foreign films, poetry, music, and after Jim passed, Pamela continued reading the sorts of books that Jim did. Pam became Jim’s student in time, and she vowed to release his poetry so that the world could recognize Jim once and for all as a poet, and not a rock star or sex symbol. If not for Pamela’s incredible influence on Jim Morrison, there is no telling how image might have evolved over time.. Pam did, after all, come up with the looks Jim is known for, and she also inspired some of The Doors’ most beautiful and best loved songs. Jim Morrison called Pam his cosmic mate, and when he died, so unfortunately, did her spirit.
Today is December 22nd, and it is Pamela Courson’s 64th birthday. RIP, Pam.
“She dances in a ring of fire, and throws off the challenge with a shrug.”

I just loved this. You said it all Rae!! And the pic definition is wonderful.
That is NOT Jim. It is Keith Richards on this photo.
Of course he’s not!! It’s K Richards all the way! But the girl at the background sure could be a Pamela Courson look a like!! The eyes frame, nose and hair. I wish we could discover who she was :P
Wow, Pamela Courson looks so thin, white and incredibly beautiful in this pic…And so does Jim! I love the black / white /red contrast :)
